Of course, as this should be a given, but: gold star participants are not superior to seasonal participants
, and vice versa. Writing a single 100k story is completely different from writing one (or more) 50k story(ies.) Different amounts of effort and energy are put into each. Please do not feel as if signing up as a seasonal participant is somehow easier or inferior to signing up as a gold star participant; the skills and strategies used to writing a single narrative of 50k is—again—different from writing a single narrative of 100k.
Submissions for each stretch are defined primarily by the time frame that the writer uses to write them. Word counts are minimum guidelines, but not definitive of how the stories are identified.
- This means: 100k written and submitted within the established timeframe of the six-month long seasonal schedule is then a seasonal submission/fic.
- This also means: Less than 95,000 (see below) is still not allowed for gold star participants, despite if they were written within the twelve-month long schedule for gold star participants.
The amount of effort put into each story is unique to each writer and story. For both writers and readers: please do not regard shorter works somehow lesser or inferior to longer works. It doesn't matter if your story ends up being the shortest in the collection, or the longest in the collection. We want to give each writer the attention and credit they all equally deserve.
Once you sign up, you may begin writing at any time.( gold star info )( seasonal info )
